Childhood Empathy

childhood
empathy

we
have experienced

a
parallel life of pain

side
by side as playmates

living
the same horrors

yours
worse than mine

unknowing
until late

that
our missed childhood’s

were
the same

both
of our fates

we
cried together

when
we learned

each
had been hurt

your road took you to denial

mine
the noise to tell to heal

have
you stopped running?

have
you begun to heal?

to
shed your pain and shame?

the
guilt and shame

it
does not belong to you

learn
to give it back

oh
dear friend

what
a wondrous feeling

scary
but adventurous

to
let go and grow

so
light and free

standing
tall

let
go of the baggage

live
life to its fullest

learn
who you really are

not
what others want you to be

cold
reality
cold reality

your
voice closed the miles

just
for a moment or two

the
warmth and friendliness

caring,
alive and real

like
a bon file in the dead of winter

then
it happened...

click

loud,
cold and hard

reality
closes back in -

the
dial tone unfolded

in
between miles

tears
of loneliness

and
abandonment

filling
the empty eyes

missing
you hurts deep

though
you are only a call away

and
the voice is only temporary

reality
will set in

like
an ice berg in my soul.

Childhood

Childhood

the
greatest person

even
known is the one we all seemed to forget

life
before the age of teen-hood

innocence
was a way and time of life

and
learning by everyday experience

was
a full time job

simple
thoughts and lots of ideas

worries
and bad dreams we few and far

fear
was wondering if one was too old for the tooth fairy

each
day was an adventure

and
tons of questions weighed on the mind heavy

where
did all of those people go?

as
we mature and we start our families

we
see a glimpse of those great people

Those
were lost over the years

but
somewhere, some place along the way

we
were tainted and jaded

and changed hiding our best

Birth Rebirth

birth
rebirth

(Lifetime
friendships)

Friendships
of this caliber are unique

few
and far between life times

rare
are those kept

asking
nothing in return

truth
told no matter the pain

there
when needed

trusting
and dependable

willing
to risk

forgiving
and understanding

cherish
the rare

appreciate
and accept

for
the bond is irreplaceable

the
memories precious and plentiful

for
tomorrow they may be above.

Beyond the Glass

Beyond The Glass

go
through the window

travel
beyond the glass

one
step at a time

you
will find yourself

visiting

your
heart, mind and soul

dare
to travel

beyond
the glass

such
a wondrous adventure

a
fantastic reunion

may
all your dreams come true

and
your passions

be
reawakened

Best Friends

best friends

I
am very grateful to have you

as
our best friend

I
appreciate the times

you
knew what to say

or
say nothing at all

words
never explain our fortune with you

a
precious part of our life

when
I hear you smile

I
know you are just fine

no
need to use words

our
friendship is like a rainbow

though
the years

colors
of laughter

buckets
of sorrow are blended

and
shared by a precious few

easily
created

the
union of you and I

a
jewel in our memories

what
a fantastic treasure

As the Sun Sets

as
the sun sets

its
arms of warmth

reach
out to caress my soul

it
winks and blinks

spreading
its colors

a
message shown in pictures

a promise of return

Anxious

anxious

i
count the hours

until
i see you again

as
the time passes

my arms ache with need

i
watch the street

my
heart ticks the seconds

waiting
till i see you

my
fears show

i
am afraid you won’t come

i
feel so confused

trying
not to let the fear hurt

why
should i be afraid?

am
i loosing you?

even
though i love you

for
the person you are

a
free spirit

i
know it means a lot to you

the
echo of the seconds

thunders
in my ears

what
do i do?

with
the love that i have for you

i
am afraid you won’t return

and
i will live with the pain of loosing you.

An Illusion

an
illusion

oh…

just
another avenue

built
from ideals and desires?

My
heart and soul are saddened

You
are not here

I
wanted to share with you

How
I feel

Don’t
you see?

It
goes beyond the heart

No
I have not forgotten

I
have been traveling life’s roads

and
passages

experiences
and lessons

creating
my own

avenues

so, it is all an illusion…

All of Me

sometimes
in my life

I
am reacquainted with a part of me

That
I miss from time to time

When
my legs wouldn’t carry me very far

And my arms would not endure heavy loads

When
my heart sings along with Bert and Ernie

The
part of me that still loves cookies and milk

Coloring
with crayons

One
who the size of the world overwhelmed

I
saw it as awesome

And
grown ups as giants

One
who was innocent

Who
did not know words like

Prejudice,
stereo-typing and apposition

But
now as a grown woman

With
an active inner child

Who
struggles with adulthood

I
truly understand

There
is not much difference

Between
a grown up child and a childish adult

For
I am both

Acceptance

The
biggest challenge about growing up

Was
accepting life as it is

As
imperfect humans

We
find love rewarding

For
over coming the trials and tribulations

With
wisdom and patience

Love
seems hard sometimes but with out it

Where
would hope and peace be?

We
were born learning to love

Even
through jealousy

We
learn we can conquer all

But
only if we love someone.

A new Beginning

I
wish I could see you one more time

To
remember you as a friend

For
use to settle our differences

To
understand or at least try

Why
we acted the way we did

To
let good thoughts be

The
last thing we remember of each other

Healing
to replace the bad feelings

It
is hard to let go of the confusion

That
drove us a part

I
see milestones in my life

Events
that have shaped who I am

Time
that heed warm and comfort

Even
for just a short while

A
special time when I believed in us

I
search daily for a place to rest

Where
months and years would not show on my face

I
still look over my shoulder at the past

And
wonder if you even remember me

I
look at my new baby

Sleeping
peacefully in my arms

I
know I have the real thing

The
gold and love in a small babe

To
have someone promise me

forever
love unconditionally

yes
it is time to stop grieving for the past

and
move on with out you

yes
it is hard to let go

but
new memories need to be made.

A Free Spirit (mama champ)

she
is a free spirit

that
chooses to stay

loving
us tenderly

showing
she cares

in
so many ways

curling
up behind my knees at night

lying
against where it hurts

as
if to make the pain go away

her
favorite game is fetch

chasing
a fake mouse down the hall

one
good toss sends her running

she
will bring it back

sauntering
in her own time

only
to

repeat
the exercise

six
toes on each paw

swats from her is not what one wants

black
and white

she
meows to go in or out

no
matter day or night

take
a soak

expect
a guest

she
loves to follow

her
name should have been

shadow
