A Free Spirit (mama champ)

she
is a free spirit

that
chooses to stay

loving
us tenderly

showing
she cares

in
so many ways

curling
up behind my knees at night

lying
against where it hurts

as
if to make the pain go away

her
favorite game is fetch

chasing
a fake mouse down the hall

one
good toss sends her running

she
will bring it back

sauntering
in her own time

only
to

repeat
the exercise

six
toes on each paw

swats from her is not what one wants

black
and white

she
meows to go in or out

no
matter day or night

take
a soak

expect
a guest

she
loves to follow

her
name should have been

shadow

Dedication

Dedicated
to them;
Who
came,
Gave
of themselves,
Letting
me be myself,
Who
went,
Sharing
for a while,
Being
themselves,
Who
I have not yet been aquatinted with,
When
our paths cross,
May
we grow,
in
experiences from each other.
